Press Releases to the Industry

MULTI-PLASTICS, INC. INTRODUCES BIODEGRADABLE POLYSTYRENE ENVELOPE WINDOW FILM

LEWIS CENTER, OH - October, 2011 - For over 32 years, MULTI-PLASTICS, INC. has dedicated itself to solving film processing problems through product innovation.  Since 2008, MULTI-PLASTICS has been constantly improving its EnviroSafe® line of eco-efficient films.  In September, MULTI-PLASTICS received third party validation that its EnviroSafe EWF® 22DG, polystyrene envelope window film, will biodegrade according to ASTM D6954 guidelines.

The core philosophy of the EnviroSafe® line is having products that will not compromise on product performance, processability, or aesthetic appearance.  Therefore, EnviroSafe EWF® 22DG is recyclable within all existing waste recovery channels, performs the same in envelope production as standard polystyrene, has postal approval for use in automation discounting, and offers better yields than other eco-options.  This is all in addition to its environmental contribution of being biodegradable.

MULTI-PLASTICS strongly supports the recycling community and their efforts.  However, with composting and recycling still not available in many parts of our world, EnviroSafe EWF® 22DG can provide a real life solution to addressing the realities of actual disposal environments.

HAZLETON, PA – September, 2011 – MULTI-PLASTICS EXTRUSIONS, INC. is pleased to announce the signing of the Hutchison Miller Sales Company as a manufacturers’ representative for oriented polystyrene films to the pressure sensitive coater market.  The experience and reputation of Hutchison Miller Sales Company with technical sales representation of facestocks in this market aligns well with the strategic plans of Multi-Plastics Extrusions, Inc.  These products include OPS film in clear, matte, and white in gauges ranging from .0015” to .010”.  Also available are EnviroSafe® products which are eco-efficient products that do not compromise on product performance or processability.

“Hutchinson Miller will elevate our Spectralite® brand of OPS film within this market, and allow us to focus on innovation and R&D projects.  Their reputation and experience will increase our exposure and awareness about our extrusion capabilities.  We look forward to the opportunities this alliance brings,” says John Parsio Jr., President of Multi-Plastics Extrusions, Inc.

MULTI-PLASTICS EXTRUSIONS, INC. INTRODUCES

HAZLETON, PA – May 17, 2011 – MULTI-PLASTICS EXTRUSIONS, INC. introduces EnviroLite™, an opaque OPS sheet containing a patented micro cellular technology that makes an immediate impact on the environment through source reduction.  Weight reduction is one of the most effective ways to reduce the environmental impact of a package.  By light weighting the amount of material used, thermoformers can select materials that generate less waste.  This sheet has a 20% higher yield than standard OPS, is recyclable in existing recycling streams, is FDA compliant, and Kosher certified.

This product is an example of MULTI-PLASTICS’ commitment to developing new and innovative products that are socially responsible and economically feasible.

MULTI-PLASTICS EXTRUSIONS, INC. is a manufacturer and non-integrated merchant supplier of polystyrene film and sheet and polyester sheet to the thermoforming and graphic arts industries.

Diversifying Product offerings with Flexible Packaging Pouch Materials

Lewis Center, Ohio - May 2009 - MULTI-PLASTICS, INC. adds paper and film-faced pouch materials to its mono-web flexible packaging product line. As narrow web flexographic converters continue to diversify and expand into flexible packaging, MULTI-PLASTICS has diligently researched and aligned themselves with an experienced manufacturer of laminated structures. Converters now have an additional source and choice for these materials at a competitive cost and within quick lead times.

The stocked C1S paper-faced structure under product code 29PP has a LDPE sealant layer and is available in two basis weights. This product mimics most PPFP's that are traditionally seen in the market. This industry standard construction method works across a variety of dry or wet ingredients.

The 4WCP (white) and 4SCP (silver) are film-faced structures with strong printability, but vary from the mainstream sealant of choice due to our manufacturer's ability to create highly specialized sealants without adding additional costs. This co-extrusion process allows us to introduce DiversaSeal™ sealant technology to the industry. DiversaSeal™ enables the customer to use one structure for multiple applications.

Also available by special order are film-faced structures with strong printability and an industry standard Surlyn sealant layer specified for added strength.

Since 1979, MULTI-PLASTICS, INC. has been a leader in the slitting and converting of thin gauge plastic film in roll or sheet servicing the envelope, carton, printing and packaging industries. With eight strategically located facilities in the US, Canada and the United Kingdom, MULTI-PLASTICS, INC. continues to place a high value on the products and services supplied to their customers.
